1997 has been
a great year with four Top Forty hits in the UK and the Chicane
album Far From The Maddening Crowds which has just
been released. The year started with Chicanes Offshore
which reached number 14 in the UK Top Forty singles chart at
the end of 96 and has been included on a vast amount of
dance compilations. The next single released was Footprint
which went to number 33 followed by Sunstroke which
went to number 21. The last single of the year was Offshore
97 featuring an all new female vocal which entered
at number 17. A year of consistent chart successes for a dance
act.
The album includes
tracks featuring Caroline Lavelle on vocals and Salt Tank remixes.
It has been gaining excellent reviews and looks set to continue
selling well into 1998. Nick is also a popular remixer and during
the early part of 1997 remixed several artists including Everything
But The Girl, Lithium and BBG - all tracks that went Top 40.
He is also very involved with the visual aspect of Chicane, including
the video production. The video for Offshore was
number 12 in the USA National Video Chart.
The future looks
even more interesting with work on the next Chicane album and
further Disco Citizens tracks being underway. Nick is also having
discussions with film producers with respect to scoring film
music in the future. |
